I paint solely in oil, and I enjoy straddling the line between realism and impressionism. I am most interested in capturing how light, from whatever source, creates atmosphere and mood. Some of my work explores themes of solitude, perhaps even isolation, while in other works, I simply want the viewer to feel that they are inhabiting the experience of the space; that they are “in” the painting. The careful portrayal of light and tonal values in my subject matter is my ultimate, and most joyous pursuit as a painter.
